17 propulsion engines from inline 6-cylinder to V16, 136–2,536 kW, selected by P1–P5 duty rating.

Applications: Tugs, workboats, fishing vessels, inland vessels, passenger vessels, yachts and government vessels (varies by model). Models suited to military, police and coast guard use: 6W105M, 6F21, 6M26.3 (incl. SCR), 6M33.3, 8F21, 12M26.3 (incl. SCR), 12M55. For patrol boats, the duty rating (P2–P4) is selected by mission, annual operating hours and cruising speed.

Features

Individual cylinder heads

According to the manufacturer, models such as the 6M33.3 and 6F21 use a separate cylinder head for each cylinder, so a single cylinder can be inspected and repaired on its own, shortening time out of service.

Common-rail or mechanical injection

Common-rail models: 6M21.3, 6M26.3, 6M33.3, 6F21, 8F21, 12M26.3, 12M55, 16M33.3; mechanical injection: 6M16, 6M33.2, 6W105M, 6W126M. Actual fuel consumption depends on rating and operating conditions.

IMO II and SCR versions

The 6M21.3, 6M26.3 and 12M26.3 are each available as an IMO II version and as an IMO III version with SCR aftertreatment; depending on model and rating, SCR versions also carry EPA 4 or Stage V, so the version can be chosen to suit the regulations of the operating area.

Hybrid

The 6M26.3 and 12M26.3 are available in hybrid versions; according to the manufacturer, all M-series common-rail engines can be paired with a standard hybrid kit, with diesel, electric-only, boost and generator modes.
