About
About the brand
BUKH is a Danish marine diesel engine brand whose roots go back to Aabenraa Motorfabrik, founded in 1899, and Motorfabrikken Bukh, established in 1904. The two companies merged in 1995 and have operated as BUKH A/S since 2010, with headquarters in Kruså, southern Denmark. BUKH joined Austria's Steyr Motors group in 2026.
BUKH's core products are SOLAS lifeboat engines. According to BUKH, more than 100,000 DV-series engines have been produced. The DV series offers six SOLAS-approved starting systems and, depending on the factory configuration, a cold-start system tested at -40°C.
The range includes 24–48 hp lifeboat engines, 175–530 hp engines for fast rescue boats and other high-speed craft, and 238–700 hp heavy-duty commercial engines.
Hallmark Marine Co., Ltd. is BUKH's authorized distributor in Taiwan. It provides application review, installation guidance and sea trials, scheduled maintenance and repair, and genuine spare parts supply.
Lifeboat and fast rescue boat engine models (DV, EPA, R175/R210/S270) hold Module B type-examination certificates issued by DNV under the EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED); the R210, S270 and EPA 28/36/48 are also listed as USCG-approved. SOLAS is optional for the V8P; the 238–700 hp heavy-duty series is not a SOLAS model range. SOLAS and class applicability are confirmed by the individual model, certificate and delivery documents. Quality system: ISO 9001:2015 (certified by DNV).
